Pyramid Valley And Beyond – Discovering the Prehistoric Birdlife of North Canterbury New Zealand

$29.99

This is an up-to-date exposition of the original birdlife of the eastern South Island, illustrated in full colour, and featuring many images by noted wildlife photographer and film-maker Rod Morris. Two of the most important fossil sites, Pyramid Valley and Bell Hill Vineyard are showcased, and the volume includes detailed sections on moa and the giant predatory birds, as well as all the other species known from the recent fossil record. A section on the former role of seabirds in the terrestrial environment brings a new perspective on the New Zealand environment before human settlement. Professor Euan C. Young, Emeritus Professor of Zoology and former Head of the Department of Zoology at Auckland University, commented "Great book. Should be in every library and every school library and every marae. It is perfectly targeted for this role.
